Coffee

Widely regarded as the “birthplace of coffee”, Ethiopia produces some of the best coffees across a variety of growing regions. According to legend, around 800 AD a goat herder named Kaldi first discovered the energizing potential of coffee when he noticed that after his goats ate the cherries from a certain tree they became so energetic that they did not want to sleep at night. Coffee plays a vital role in Ethiopia and is best embodied by the traditional coffee ceremonies which celebrate culture, community and hospitality.
